The Construction Zone curriculum package is designed to provide a total learning experience in each construction workstation. Academic concepts are reinforced as students understand the real-life applications of math, science, and reading. The triple stimulus method uses visual, auditory, and tactile stimulus as students see, hear and do.

The curriculum package includes an instruction manual, audio tape, student workbook, work orders, answer sheets, and inistructor's guide.

Curriculum Manual
Each manual is provided in a three-ring binder, with pages contained in page protectors. Using full color photographs, each manual provides the following:

Career Component
Each module introduces the student to an idea of what it would be like to actually work in that trade, including information on job conditions, neccessary education or training, and income potential.

Terminology and Identification of Equipment
The student is introduced to the key terms and definitions pertaining to each trade, and to the equipment and materials unique to that trade.


Step-by-Step Activities
Once introduced to career information, terminology, and equipment, the student begins a "hands on" work experience, using professional tools .  Full color photographs, diagrams, and clear step-by-step directions guide the student through projects or tasks.


Audio Tape
An audio tape is included that follows the manual word-for-word, providing the auditory component of the triple stimulus learning format.

The audio tape helps to teach reading and listening skills essential for job training.  It aids the students in pronunciation of important terms, and provides reinforcement of the written instructions.

Students with limited English proficiency or reading deficiencies can successfully Construction Zone workstation experience by using the audio tapes, which duplicate each manual in narrative form, assisted by numerous illustrations and full color photographs.

Work Book
Each day, students demonstrate their understanding of workstation projects by writing in a workbook, defining terms, identifying tools, and explaining concepts and activities covered in that lesson.  A master copy of the workbook is included in the instructor guide.

Work Order 
Students fill out a work order as they progress through the hands-on activities, keeping track of materials and hours on the job, as they would in a job situation.  Thirty copies are included, and a master copy of the work order is included in the instructor guide.

Answer Sheets 
Thirty answer sheets are provided to be used for the pre/post test, and a master copy is included in the instructor guide.

Instructor Guide 
The instructor guide provides information about workstation safety and classroom preperation, as well as instructor suggestions for each workstation.  It also includes answer keys and a master copy of answer sheets, work orders, and workbook.
