Students design
and draw a landscape plan, selecting appropriate tree, shrubs, and ground
cover. They gain hands-on experience completing a landscape plan for a park
area as a take-home project. Students will follow detailed step-by-step
instructions as they select plants and complete a landscape design for a play
area. This job experience is divided into two learning experiences, contained
in two sections: FUNDAMENTALS introduces the student to greenhouses and
nurseries and provides career information. WORKSTATION ACTIVITIES lets students
apply fundamentals learned in completing job experience activities.
CURRICULUM:
Curriculum manual is provided in a three-ring binder, with pages contained in
page protectors. Easy to follow step by step activities are highlighted using
full color photographs. Once introduced to career related information (job
description, education and training requirements, job prospects and income
ranges) the student begins a "hands on" work experience, using professional
tools of the trade to complete projects or tasks. An audio tape follows the
manual word for word. Pre-and post tests, worksheets, answer sheets, and
instructors guide.
