POWER MECHANICS / SMALL ENGINE REPAIR

Students study and inspect a small gasoline engine, and then disassemble, service and operate a working engine. They will be introduced to the general theory of internal combustion engine operation, learn the fundamentals of power mechanics, become familiar with important engine parts and gain hands-on experience with small engines.

CURRICULUM:
Curriculum manual is provided in a three-ring binder, with pages contained in page protectors. Easy to follow step by step activities are highlighted using full color photographs. Once introduced to career related information (job description, education and training requirements, job prospects and income ranges) the student begins a "hands on" work experience, using professional tools of the trade to complete projects or tasks. An audio tape follows the manual word-for-word. Pre-and post tests, worksheets, answer sheets, and instructors guide.


POWER MECHANICS/SMALL ENGINE REPAIR WORKSTATION:
Locking desk with see-through lift-up top, built-in lock/key, 24" fluorescent light, power strip, and audio cassette player with headphones.

FUNDAMENTAL ACTIVITIES KIT:
Instruction manual, supplemental textbook and workbook, ball bearing, roller bearing, needle bearing, piston, carburetor, clear plastic cylinder, oil foam air cleaner, compression ring, spark plug, and oil-control ring.
Note:  Requires air supply; portable air supply can be quoted separately.

TOOL CABINET/DESK AND EQUIPMENT/CONSUMABLE MATERIALS INCLUDES:
Running engine, lab engine, safety glasses, aprons, paper towel holder, mini-mag light, 6" metal ruler, oil dip stick, parts tray, 3/8" drive ratchet, 3/16" screwdriver, ½" socket, 3/8" socket, spark plug socket, wire type gap gauge, I-beam type torque wrench, activity kit box, ball bearing, needle bearing, tappered roller bearing, carburetor with compression and oil control ring, piston, connecting rod, plastic cycle assembly, spark plugs, paper type air filter, oil bath foam filter, wrist pin, paper towels, caution tags, and oil.
