Students install and test telephone and cable television wiring and equipment. Students explore a variety of job tasks in installing, connecting, and testing telephone and cable television wiring and equipment, using professional materials and methods.

CURRICULUM:
Curriculum manual is provided in a three-ring binder, with pages contained in page protectors. Easy to follow step by step activities are highlighted using full color photographs. Once introduced to career related information (job description, education and training requirements, job prospects, and income ranges) the student begins a "hands-on" work experience, using professional tools of the trade to complete projects or tasks. An audio tape follows the manual word-for-word. Pre-and post tests, worksheets, answer sheets, and instructors guide.

  Hands On Activities  HANDS ON  ACTIVITIES:  
  • Wire a punch block using a punch down tool
  • Measure, cut, run, and staple telephone cable 
  • Make connections at voice line jacks
  •  Test Phone line using tone generator and inductive amplifier
  • Measure, cut, run and clip coaxial cable
  • Make cable connections at a punch block and snap-in cable connector
  • Make DSL conections at a punch block and snap-in jack
  • Disassemble telephone, data, and cable telephone circuitry

TELEPHONE & CABLE TV INSTALLER WORKSTATION:
Stand-up workstation with see thru locking tool cabinet, padlock/key, supply drawer, power strip, and audio cassette player with headphones.

TOOL CABINET:
Safety glasses, hammer, tape measure, cable crimper, wire stripper, data/phone cable stripper, needle nose plier, side cutter,  3/16" screwdriver, punchdown tool, staple gun, inductive amplifier, tone generator, aprons, modular jacks, multiport wall mounts, ground clamp, ground wire, snap-in IDC jacks, snap-in coaxial cable jacks, bridge clips.

EQUIPMENT/CONSUMABLE MATERIALS
3-pair UTP telephone cable, coaxial RG-6 TV cable, RG-6 connectors, 3/8" cable staples
