Students install and test telephone and cable television wiring and equipment. Students explore
a variety of job tasks in installing, connecting, and testing telephone and cable television wiring
and equipment, using professional materials and methods.
TELEPHONE & CABLE TV INSTALLER WORKSTATION
CURRICULUM:
Curriculum manual is provided in a three-ring binder,
with pages contained in page protectors. Easy to follow
step by step activities are highlighted using full color
photographs. Once introduced to career related information
(job description, education and training requirements,
job prospects, and income ranges) the student begins a
"hands-on" work experience, using professional tools of the
trade to complete projects or tasks. An audio tape follows
the manual word-for-word. Pre-and post tests,
worksheets, answer sheets, and instructors guide.
Connect a telephone wire to a wire block by stripping wires and screwing them into color-coded terminals
Run a ground wire from the connector block to a pre-installed section of pipe and clamp it on with a grounding clamp
Strip, connect, and run wire from the connector block to an outlet box
Staple the wiring to the stud frame wall. Install a module jack and mounting plate
Test the completed circuit with a test handset
TELEPHONE & CABLE TV INSTALLER WORKSTATION:
Stand-up workstation with see thru locking tool cabinet,
padlock/key, supply drawer, power strip, and audio cassette player
with headphones.
TOOL CABINET:
Safety glasses, tool pouch, cable crimper, wire
stripper, needle nose plier, side cutter, 3/16" screwdriver, staple
gun, test hand set, tone generator, cable ground block,
cable splitter, converter, and wall plate.
EQUIPMENT/CONSUMABLE MATERIALS Mounted ground pipe, mounted handy boxes, aprons,
parts tray, phone jack wall plates, cable jack wall plates,
ground clamp, ground wire, telephone cable, TV cable,
cable connectors, and round staples.
